Give

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.                                                                                                                                            -2 Corinthians 9:7

As Christians we do not give because we have to give; we give because we as Christians have the privilege of giving!  It’s all about attitude.  Giving is not an obligation, it is an opportunity.

We give because giving follows the example of the life of Jesus Christ.  He taught us that the essence of life is not what we get, but is found in what we give.

We believe in giving our time, talents, and treasure to bless others as God has blessed us.  As we are involved in mission we are  responding in specific ways to Christ’s call to take the message of His gospel into the world.  Matthew 28:19-20 give us this command: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Serving in the name of Jesus Christ, we give others the opportunity to come to know the goodness of God made known in Jesus.  As Jesus remind us in the Gospel of Matthew 25:35-39, we SHOULD do the following:

  • feed the hungry
  • give a drink to the thirsty
  • clothe the naked
  • alleviate the pain of suffering and sick
  • visit those who are in prison

Through the projects we support, we are doing all of these things.  Our Faith Promise ministry efforts also help many people in our church and community participate in hands-on-mission.

As we do these things we are fulfilling Jesus’s command in John 13:34-35, “A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.   By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”   Through our support of our various ministries we demonstrate our love as followers of  Jesus Christ.
